Krista J. Thomas-Bartlett, 59, of McLouth, KS passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at the University of Kansas Medical Center.
Krista was born March 3, 1959 to the late Albert "Gus" and Marlynne Chown in Shawnee, KS. Krista graduated from St. Teresa's Academy in 1977 and later earned a master's of science degree in business from the University of Kansas in 1988. Krista worked in corporate accounting for BNSF and Yellow Freight before retiring in 2004. Krista was a beloved Mother and Grandmother. She always put her family before herself. Krista had a passion for horses. She enjoyed showing her prized quarter horse, Allie, who earned many blue ribbons and high point achievements on the Kansas State Horse Show Circuit. Krista loved being outdoors. She spent lots of time with her family in Colorado. She loved swimming in her pond and ice skating on it in the winter. She was also an accomplished pianist. She loved Christmas time and always prayed for snow.
Krista is preceded in death by her brother, Mark Chown. She is survived by her husband, Michael Bartlett; a daughter, Jennifer Thomas and husband Michael Leonard; two grandsons, Michael J. Leonard and Jaden Leonard.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, January 18 at the Amos Family Funeral Home where a rosary will be prayed at 6 p.m. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 19 at the funeral home. Krista will be laid to rest in St. Joseph Cemetery in Shawnee. Casual attire will be welcomed.
