Larry M. Beer

November 18, 1941 — September 10, 2018

Larry M. Beer, 76, of Olathe, Kansas, went to be with his Heavenly Father on September 10, 2018. Larry was born November 18, 1941 in Holton, Kansas, to Alvy and Avis Beer. After graduating from Sabetha High School in 1959, Larry joined the Navy and served both active and reserve duty. He met his wife, Donna, on one of his leaves from the Navy. He graduated from Topeka Technical College and Johnson County Junior College. Larry was an I/T professional and retired from Bayer Animal Health in 1998 after 22 years and then from Sprint in 2006.

Larry was a devoted husband, father, and "Pa" to his grandchildren. Everyone loved Larry. If you asked Larry how he was doing, his answer always was the same, "I can't complain"! He was a faithful friend to so many, always fun to be around and an amazing story teller. He was known for his outstanding writing ability and beautiful poems. Hunting, fishing and watching sports were some of his hobbies. He and Donna loved country dancing as well as traveling. They were very fortunate to take several cruises with friends and family and were able to travel through Europe on numerous occasions.

Larry and Donna were married on October 17, 1964. Larry is survived by his wife, Donna; daughter, Cheryl (Rich Boomsma); grandchildren, Jennifer, Blake and Dylan; sister, Ann Hillsdale; brothers, Calvin Beer and Tom Beer. Larry was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Bradley J. Beer.

The visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on September 13, 2018 at Amos Family Funeral Home, Shawnee, KS. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 14, 2018 at Divine Mercy Parish, 555 West Main, Gardner, KS. Interment will be at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, 87th & Quivira, Lenexa, KS.
