Lata Waghela

Lata Waghela passed away peacefully on February 1, 2022 at the age of 61 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by loved ones at her home in Kansas City, Missouri.

Lata was born on September 9, 1960 in Paddhari, Gujarat, India and raised in Mumbai, India with her adoring family. She was the youngest of three children to Ratilal and Kantaben Sidhpura.

Lata married Suresh Waghela on November 23, 1981. After spending the first half of their loving marriage in Thane, India they relocated to Kansas City, Missouri in 2001 with their two children.

Lata was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and a friend. She doted on her family and friends and was happiest when surrounded by them. Lata was an avid cook, reader, and a gardener. She also valued theater, music, arts, humor, and keeping up with current events.

Lata is survived by her husband, Suresh Waghela; her son, Nihir Waghela; her daughter Rachana (Milan) Shah; as well as her brothers, Ramesh and Jagdish Sidhpura. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ratilal and Kantaben Sidhpura.

A funeral service is scheduled for February 7, 2022 at 10 AM at the Amos Family Funeral Home, 10901 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, Kansas 66203. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please make a donation to Rogel Cancer Center Adrenal Cancer Program at the University of Michigan.
