Laura Lou Blundell

Laura Lou Blundell, 88, of Lenexa, KS passed away Saturday, July 24, 2021 at Advent Health Shawnee Mission from a short non-COVID related illness. Family and friends mourn over the loss of their beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt. She was the most loving and giving person in the world. Laura was born in St. Joseph Missouri to Fred and Lula Mueller in 1933. She married Robert (Sonny) Blundell on March 20, 1953. Laura has three children, Robert Blundell, Jr. (Darlene); Deborah Deakins (Kim Grimes) Randall Blundell (Leeann). Four beautiful grandchildren, Carrie, Jason, Randy, and Alissa Christina have been born since 1979. Eight amazing great grandchildren Lilly, Christian, Annalise, Elaina, Charlotte, Harrison, Knox and Quinn have been born since 2012. Laura loved watching old movies almost every night. She was also the #1 fan of the Royals and Chiefs. We would talk with her about the Royals and Chiefs almost every game. She loved to shop, especially for shoes, clothes and jewelry. Laura enjoyed traveling and even went to Okinawa, Japan in 1994. She was also known for her famous family Christmas Eve parties each year that everyone looked forward to. Laura was also an expert bowler who rolled many 200 games throughout the years. Laura worked at Southwestern Bell as a telephone operator and Menorah Medical Center switchboard operator for many years. Laura loved and supported her family in every way possible during her life. She was always concerned about family and friends 100 percent of the time. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, at the Amos Family Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, at the funeral home. Laura will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Sonny, in Leavenworth National Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association-Heart of America Chapter, 3846 W. 75th St., #4126, Prairie Village, KS 66208.
