Laura Marie Kinsey passed away at home on January 11, 2021 at the age of 83. She was born to Edward and Ruby Marx on September 4, 1937 in Springfield, Missouri.
Laura graduated from Redemptorist High School in Kansas City, Missouri. Soon after, she met the love of her life and future husband Leonard at Draughon's College of Commerce. They married in 1957 and enjoyed 63 beautiful years together with their family.
In addition to being a dedicated and loving wife and mother, Laura also enjoyed playing cards with friends, bunco nights, trivia contests, book club and performing with the JCPRD Side by Side Singers.
Throughout her entire life, Laura held an unwavering faith in God, which she joyfully shared with those around her. She attended Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Shawnee, Kansas where she served in several ministries including the Food Kitchen, the Funeral Choir and as a Eucharistic Minister.
Laura is survived by her husband, Leonard; children, Dean (Catherine) Kinsey of Merriam, KS, Cathy (Vince) Plumb of Overland Park, KS, Toby (Sharryl) Kinsey of Olathe, KS, Brenda (Lynn) Rodenmayer of Wellsville, KS, Ken (Lesa) Kinsey of Prairie Village, KS, Ed (Michelle) Kinsey of Olathe, KS and Neil Kinsey of Lawrence, KS; 13 grandchildren and 5 spouses; 14 great-grandchildren and her brother, Ed Marx of Houston, TX. She is also survived by several friends many of whom called her Mom.
A special thanks to all the nurses, doctors, therapists and other caregivers who have helped care for Laura over the past few years.
While Laura is no longer with us physically, please know that she will be asking for God's blessing on you and your families. Her spirit will never be far away.
A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM on Thursday, January 14 at the Amos Family Funeral Home in Shawnee, KS. A Rosary will be prayed at 5 PM. Due to COVID protocols, the funeral home can only accommodate 45 people in their chapel at a time. Everyone in attendance must wear a mask. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Friday, January 15 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Shawnee, KS. Burial at Resurrection Cemetery.
