Lawana C. Barr

Lawana C. Barr, 88, Kansas City, Kansas, passed away Monday, February 6, 2012, at the Shawnee Gardens Nursing Center, Shawnee, Kansas.

Lawana was born May 9, 1923, in Hermitage, Missouri, to Carl F. and Letha Anderson. She was employed with Western Missouri and Kansas Laborer's District Council and was a member of Heavy Construction Laborers' Local #663.

She enjoyed sewing, ceramics, cooking and gardening.

Lawana was preceded in death by her husband, Donald A. Barr on September 23, 1997. Survivors include her daughter, Bobbi Mendenhall (Mike); Teri Cusins (Dave), Catherine Roberts (Ed), Christine Ryan (John), Gary Barr, Mary Acosta (Mike); nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and one great great granddaughter.

Lawana's family would like to thank the staff at Shawnee Gardens and Odyssey Hospice for their loving care.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, February 9, 2012, at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee, where a Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 10, 2012, at St. Agnes Catholic Church; burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
