Lee was born November 7, 1925 in Neosho, Missouri and had the honor to be the daughter of Donald and Rose Benedict Young. Lee attended the University of Arkansas and was a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority. She taught elementary school for 3 years before marrying Eugene E. Alt.
