Lee Rudolph Vogel

May 28, 1929 — February 13, 2016

Lee Rudolph Vogel, 86, of Overland Park, passed away Saturday, February 13, 2016 at his home.

Lee was born on May 28, 1929 to the late Rudolph Martin and Edna Osthoff Vogel He attended St. Paul's Lutheran School. In 1947 he graduated from Leavenworth High School where he lettered in football, basketball, track and golf. He graduated from the University of Kansas in 1951 with a degree from the school of Engineering with a major in Industrial Management. He was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity.

Lee is survived by his wife of 65 years, Joyce, and their three sons, Bruce Vogel and wife Linda; Curtis Vogel; Eric Lee Vogel and wife Roylynn; He is also survived by four grandchildren, Christopher Vogel and wife Tracy; Megan Hasch and husband Joe; Stephanie Ruth and husband Logan; Corynn Vogel; two great grandchildren Mila Ruth and Oliver Vogel; a brother, Dr. Arthur Vogel and wife Judith; a sister, Ruth Moore and husband Neal.

After a brief time with Commerce Acceptance Company, Lee joined the C.L. McMichael Company as a sales representative. Eventually, he became President and semi-retired as a consultant in 1992. At the time of his death, he had been with the company for 65 years. Lee was a life member of the American Society of Heating and Refrigeration Engineers and the K.U. Alumni Association. A golfer since he was 12 years old he was a former member of Milburn Country Club. A lifelong Lutheran he was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Funeral Services

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 5601 W. 62nd Street, Mission KS. A private interment will follow at Mt. Muncie Cemetery in Leavenworth.

Memorial Contributions

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Metropolitan Lutheran Mission, 3031 Holmes Street, Kansas City, Mo 64109 or to the church.
