Leonard A. “Andy” Anderson

Leonard A. "Andy" Anderson, 91, of Kansas City, MO, passed away Monday, February 03, 2014 at Freedom Pointe Assisted Living.

Leonard was born the oldest of 8 children, September 8, 1922 in Kansas City, Missouri to the late Mannie and Mary Etta Anderson and lived in the metro area all his life. Andy joined the U.S. Navy in January of 1941 and found himself stationed aboard the USS Rigel in Pearl Harbor during the Japanese bombing. He continued his service throughout the war before being discharged in 1947. After returning from the service, Andy started his own blue print services company, "Andy's Blue Print" that he ran until his retirement in 1998.

Andy is preceded in death by his wife Evelyn Wanda Coin, two daughters, Marilyn Prestia and Janice Dunsworth.

He is survived by his seven grandchildren, Brandon Prestia; Courtney Stieg; Ross Prestia; Lindsey Prestia; Evan Prestia; Jacqueline Dunsworth; Harley Dunsworth; two sisters Venetta Cochran; Francis Marie Cunningham and seven great grandchildren.

Visitation and Services

Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Friday, February 7, 2014 at the Amos Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 12 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be at Leavenworth National Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the USS Arizona Memorial Restoration Fund, 94-1187 Ka Uka Boulevard, Waipahu, HI 96797.
