Leroy Stock passed away Tuesday morning, August 23, 2011, at his home in Shawnee, Kansas.
He was born on August 27, 1931, in Kansas City, Missouri, son of Joseph and Louise (Feederle) Stock. He grew up in Kansas City where he attended Good Council Catholic School and graduated from Manual High School in 1949. He was married to Mary (Hoge) Stock of Conception Junction, Missouri for 42 years before her death in 1996. Together the couple raised eight children. During his career he worked as a printer, newspaper delivery man, baker, truck driver and salesman. He worked for 20 years in the printing department at Midwest Research Institute in Kansas City before retiring in 1996. He served in the United States Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean War.
Leroy spent 23 years singing with the Heart of America Barbershop Chorus. In his retirement he enjoyed gardening and delivering Meals on Wheels to his shut-in neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, wife Mary, and two brothers, Norbert and Eugene Stock. He is survived by his wife Charlene Johnson; sons Mike and his wife Susie Stock, Dan and wife Shelly Stock, John Stock and wife Maria Perry, and Tom and wife Amy Stock; daughters Lisa and her husband Steve Volk, Ellen Stock, Jane and husband Clinton Swearngin, and Amy and husband Barre Sakol; 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Meals on Wheels and the Salvation Army.
Visitation and Memorial Service
Visitation will be from 9:00-10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 27, 2011, at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. Memorial service will follow at 10:00 a.m. Inurnment at Johnson County Memorial Gardens, Overland Park, Kansas.
