Leslie L. Hayes 86, of Mission, Kansas, died Wednesday, October 17, 2012, at his home.

Leslie was born April 1, 1926, to the late Leslie L. Hayes, Sr. and Annis Mantonya in Deepwater, Missouri. He married Helen Green on July 19, 1945. He worked for the Frisco Railroad from 1942 to 1947, then worked for the Kansas City Terminal Railroad from 1947 to 1986 and retied as Signal and Communications Supervisor.

He served on the Merriam Turkey Creek Drainage Board as field superintendent for 24 years. Leslie was a member of the Merriam Christian Church since 1948.

He is survived by his wife Helen; three sons, William L. Hayes and wife Sharon, James L. Hayes and wife Cynthia, and Jeffrey Hayes and wife Jane; eleven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; two sisters Edna Mae Sampson and Esther E. Longcrier; and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Leslie's life will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, October 20, 2012, at the Amos Family Funeral Home and Crematory.
