Lois Maxine Carnahan

July 3, 1928 — November 9, 2022

Lois Maxine Carnahan, 94, a long-time Shawnee, Kansas resident, passed away from natural causes on November 9, 2022.  She spent the last few years in Morris Plains, New Jersey, with her family.  Lois was born July 3, 1928, in Ottawa, Kansas, and grew up in Kansas City, Missouri.  Lois worked in various roles at Shawnee State Bank, now Commerce Bank, for over twenty-five years.  She was also very active in the Shawnee Presbyterian Church serving the local community.

Lois is survived by her son, Mike Swift; daughter-in-law, Janelle Swift; grandsons Ryan and Michael Swift; granddaughter-in-law, Kara Silverman; two nieces, Patti Mars and Debbie Hall; and nephew-in-law, Don Hall.  Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Swift, who she married in 1948 and passed away in 1955, and her second husband, Les Carnahan, who she married in 1957 and was with until he died in 1992.  Lois was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Howard Buchanan and Blaine Buchanan, and her nephew Gene Buchanan.

Lois loved animals, especially dogs.  In honor of her memory, the family is asking for donations to the Seeing Eye in Morristown, New Jersey (https://www.seeingeye.org/) instead of flowers.  A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 18th at 10:00 am at Amos Family Funeral Home, 10901 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, KS 66203.  Interment at Floral Hills Cemetery in Kansas City, MO.
