Lois Higbee

Lois E. Higbee, 90, Shawnee, KS passed away Sunday, Feb. 15, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Nursing Center, Olathe, KS.

Lois was born March 6, 1924 in Olivet, KS to Leon and Carrie Shirley. She married Robert E. Higbee on March 11, 1943 in Formoso, KS. She was longtime member of Shawnee United Methodist Church. Lois was a devoted wife and sweet mother.

Lois was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Robert, on Oct. 1, 2003, infant son, Robert E. Jr., daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Chuck Nixon, sister, Mildred Hupp and brother, Harry Shirley. Survivors include her son, Rodney (Jacquelyn) Higbee, Atlanta, GA; two daughters, Terry (Jay) Swearingen, Parker, CO and Becky (Rick) Fortner, Olathe, KS; three sisters, Frances Selig, Clay Center, KS, Doris Lusk, Wichita, KS and Joyce Germann, Maple Valley, WA; six grandchildren, Carrie Danforth, Elizabeth (Cliff) Croft, Melissa (Coby) Dougan, Matthew Fortner, Jason Fortner and Ryan (Kariene) Fortner; and six great grandchildren, Carter Croft, Cole Croft, Finnley Dougan, Ronan Dougan, Charli Fortner and Jake Fortner.

Funeral services will be 10:00 am Saturday, Feb. 21 at Shawnee United Methodist Church; burial in the Johnson County Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 6-8:00 pm Friday at the Amos Family Funeral Home.
