Lois Ann Martin, 87, of Shawnee, passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at the Olathe Hospice House. Lois was born November 3, 1929 to the late Carl and Clara Eberhard in Louisville, Kentucky. Lois graduated from Atherton High School, an all-girls school at the time, in 1947. She later went on to earn her certification in radiology. Lois worked as an X-ray technician for over 40 years. Lois married John W. Martin on August 7, 1954. She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, whose life centered around her family and church. She was a 40 year member of Hope Lutheran Church. She volunteered with the Altar Guild, and volunteered at Hope Lutheran School helping children improve their reading. Lois also actively served as a volunteer with the Johnson County Library, Shawnee Branch; and earlier in life she served at the school library in New Whiteland, Indiana. When she wasn't serving others or her family, Lois enjoyed needle point and cross stitch; she was an artist. Lois is survived by her loving husband, John W. Martin; three sons, Daniel Martin; Phillip Martin; James (Peggy) Martin; a daughter, Martha (Michael) Cox; three brothers, John P. (Lois) Eberhard; Richard (Carol) Eberhard; Arthur (Daphne) Eberhard; ; five grandsons, David Cox, Alexander Martin, Jack Martin, Ryan Martin, Asa Martin; two granddaughters, Elizabeth Martin and Jessica Cox. She is preceded in death by her brother, David Eberhard and two sisters, Ruth Lewis and Naomi McCrea.

Services

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday, January 16 at Hope Lutheran Church, 6308 Quivira Road, Shawnee, Kansas 66216. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the Church. Lois will be laid to rest in Pleasant View Cemetery in Shawnee.
