Lois C. McAlister, 92, of Lenexa, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2015 at Lakeview Village Care Center. Lois was born January 22, 1923 to the late Paul and Eudora Womeldorf in Syracuse, Kansas. She graduated from Southwestern College with a degree in Social Studies in 1945. On May 31, 1953, Lois married Richard McAlister. He preceded her in death in August of 2011 after 58 years of marriage. Lois worked as an elementary school teacher for the Shawnee Mission School District for over 25 years. She retired from teaching in 1981. Lois was an active member of Shawnee United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and volunteered in the church office. Lois is also preceded in death by her brother Harry Womeldorf and sister Ruth Connett. Sheis survived by her son, Paul McAlister and wife RuthAnn; grandson, Evan P. McAlister; four nieces, Ann Fischoff and husband Alan; Marilyn Amyx and husband Mike; Karen Oberzan; Paula Crouse and nephew, Jim Womeldorf and wife Deb.
A Celebration of Lois' life will be 10 a.m. Monday, June 1, 2015 in the Heritage Room at Lakeview Village, 9100 Park, Lenexa, KS. Lois will be laid to rest next to her loving husband Richard, in a private family service at Maple Grove Cemetery, Wichita, KS.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Shawnee United Methodist Church.
