Lois Ellen (Blackwood) Wing, age 85, of Lenexa KS died Monday, October 19, 2015, in her home at Lakeview Village. She was preceded in death by her husband Merlin Wing, parents Henry and Florence Blackwood, brothers Junior, Dwayne, and Dale, and sister Louise. She is survived by sisters Fern (Buck) Sublette of Sun City, CA, Alta (John) Tweed of Winchester, Twila (Dick) Cunningham of Hudsonville, MI, Della (Paul) Crissman of Centennial, CO, Corajean (Steve) Smiley of Athens, GA; brother Carl (Marcia) of Indianapolis, IN; and sisters-in-law Ellen Blackwood of Holton and Kathleen Blackwood of Sabetha. She is also survived by son Dennis (Debbie) of Shawnee, daughter Sandra (Curtis) of Olathe, son Keith (Claudia) of Beaver Falls, PA, and daughter Sharon (Doug) of St. Louis, MO, along with twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Lois was a graduate of Denison High School and lived most of her life in Jackson County, KS. She was a homemaker and worked in various positions during her many years at Denison State Bank in Holton. She was a lifelong member of the Reformed Presbyterian Church, where she served as a youth leader and teacher and was active in the Women's Missionary Fellowship. She was active in a number of organizations: Jackson County, KS, Historical Society, Pilot Club and Business Women in Holton, Fairview Club, Meals on Wheels, Shawnee Mission Medical Center Volunteers, and Lakeview Village Library. She was loved by her family and her many friends, appreciated for her hospitality, and committed to Jesus Christ.
Arrangements are being handled by Amos Funeral Home, 10901 Johnson Drive in Shawnee, where the family will receive friends from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 21. Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Reformed Presbyterian Church of Shawnee, 6835 Pflumm Road, Shawnee, KS. Burial service will follow at 4:00 p.m. at Denison Community Cemetery, Denison, KS.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Denison Reformed Presbyterian Church, Shawnee Reformed Presbyterian Church, or Jackson County, KS, Historical Society and sent in care of Amos Funeral Home
