Loren Leckrone

Loren Carl Leckrone, 88, Shawnee, Kansas, passed away Friday, August 2, 2013, at Bickford at Mission Springs, Mission, Kansas, surrounded by his family.

Loren was born October 18, 1924, Branson, Missouri, to Raymond A. and Beulah M. (Cox) Leckrone. He was a 1942 graduate of Branson High School. Loren was a veteran of the United States Army Air Force with the 390th Bomb Group during WWII, earning the nickname, Lucky. On December 14, 1946, Loren married Lillian F. Miller in Kansas City, Kansas.

Loren was owner and operator of Leckrone Trash Service, serving Mission and Shawnee Village, for 15 years. Later he worked at various mechanic jobs before retiring. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and gardener. Loren and Lillian were members of Maple Hill Baptist and later, First Baptist Church of Shawnee.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian, on January 28, 2003; grandson, Ryan Russell, on March 2, 1999; and brother, Fred Leckrone, November 2012. Survivors include his three daughters, Sue (Allan) Russell, Pleasanton, Kansas, Terry (Mark) Lane, Shawnee, Kansas, and Lori (Darryl) Devaney, Wichita, Kansas; brother, Eugene (Mae) Leckrone, Shawnee, Kansas; five grandchildren, Luke Russell, Nicole Devaney, Nathan Devaney, Mallory Lugo and Olivia Lane; four great grand children; two step-grandsons; and three step-great grandchildren. He was affectionately known as Grandpa TJ.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 6, 2013, at First Baptist Church of Shawnee. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 7, 2013, at First Baptist Church of Shawnee; burial in Maple Hill Cemetery.
