Loretta Faye Rowland

Loretta Faye Rowland, 81, Lenexa, Kansas passed away Monday, April 27, 2009 at the Kansas City Hospice House, Kansas City, Missouri.

Loretta was born August 4, 1927 in Brownington, Missouri to John Omer and Edna (Dodson) McElhaney. She graduated from Rural Hartman High School in Kansas City, Missouri. Loretta was an active member of the Nall Avenue Baptist Church and the JOY group. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family cheering on the KU Jayhawks, and sewing for her family and friends.

Loretta was preceded in death by her husband, William L. Rowland on January 23, 2005. Survivors include her two daughters, Beverly Rupert and her husband, Paul, Roeland Park, Kansas and Becky Stiles and her husband, Joe, Lawrence, Kansas; seven grandchildren: Jennifer Schrepel and husband Bryan, Lansing, Kansas, Melinda Rupert, Mission, Kansas, Eric Rupert, and Katherine Rupert, both of Roeland Park, Kansas; Katie Stiles, Kansas City, Missouri, Andy Stiles and Matt Stiles, both of Lawrence, Kansas.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Kansas City Hospice or to the Kansas City Hospice House.

Visitation and Funeral Service

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, April 30, 2009 at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee; burial in the Forest Hill Cemetery, Kansas City, Missouri. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at the chapel.
