Loretta Spidel

Loretta Mae (Tubowich) Spidel, 95, formerly of Overland Park, KS, died October 11, 2017, at St. Therese Nursing Home in New Hope, MN. She was born March 22, 1922, in the Strawberry Hill area of KC, KS. At 90, upon the death of her husband of 68 years, Ward Spidel, she moved to Minnesota to be near her daughter. Loretta had a huge heart and cherished her family, friends and pets. Always a champion for the underdog, she rescued numerous homeless animals and enjoyed volunteering with La Sertoma and her church. Even at St. Therese, she advocated for those worse off than herself and spent time with the lonely. Never one to sit still, she loved to cook, entertain, garden and redecorate. Loretta is survived by her daughter Sandy Spidel (Neil) Neumann, Minneapolis, MN; her son Tim Spidel, Salina, KS; her granddaughter Connie Spidel, Wheaton, IL; her nephew Jerry (Danna) Brown, Overland Park, KS; 8 grandnieces and grandnephews; and 14 great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.

Services will be Friday, November 24 at 11:00 am at Curé of Ars 9401 Mission Rd, Leawood, Kansas 66206 with a visitation from at 10:00 am-11:00am.
