Lori Ann Hicks, 53, Merriam, KS passed away Monday, June 22, 2015 at the Kansas City Hospice House, Kansas City, MO.
Lori was born March, 2, 1962 in Kansas City, MO to James H. and Eva Hicks. She was a graduate of Shawnee Mission North High School. Lori was employed with Johnson County Developmental Supports for 31 years. Anyone who met Lori will never forget her. Lori lived life to the fullest. She bowled, played basketball and volleyball, ran track, swam and participated in the International Special Olympics Winter Games in Stowe, Vermont, bringing home a bronze medal for speed skating.
She traveled to Hawaii, Colorado and Wyoming on many family vacations. She was the central figure at all family gatherings.
She loved her family and friends dearly, and they loved her.
Lori was preceded in death by her father. Survivors include her mother, Eva Hicks, Merriam, KS; sister, Linda Hendry, Olathe, KS; niece, Katy Hendry (Chris Collins), Merriam, KS; nephew, David Hendry, Olathe, KS; great niece, Breckin Renken, Merriam, KS; uncle, Howard (Gloria) Hicks, Chula Vista, CA; aunt, Maxine Hicks, Harrison, AR; and cousins, Ken Hicks, San Antonio, TX, GB Hicks, Harrison, AR, Misty Hicks, Little Rock, AR, Shelley Bayless, Chula Vista, CA, Michael Hicks, San Diego, CA, Ally Wood, Dallas, TX and Sam Wood, New London, CT.
Visitation will be 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 25 at the Amos Family Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 2:00 pm Saturday, June 27 at the Western Grove Cemetery, Western Grove, AR.
