Lorraine Winnifred (Wetmore) Gerard was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana on June 24, 1942. Daughter of Ralph H. and Edna M. (O’Donnell) Wetmore. She attended Saint Peter’s Catholic Grade School and graduated from Central Catholic High School. After high school, Lorraine worked as a clerk at Lincoln Life in Fort Wayne and as receptionist at 5-Star Realty in Fort Wayne.
On October 7, 1961, Lorraine married the love of her life, Jerome L. Gerard. They have four daughters, Audrey L. Samek, Louisburg, KS, Cynthia M. Gerard, Lenexa, KS, Stephanie A. Romankow, Gillette NJ and Jennifer L. Gomes, Bethlehem, PA.
In 1985 Lorraine began a longtime career as administrative assistant at Bishop Miege High School, Shawnee Mission, KS.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Jerome L. Gerard, her father, Ralph H. Wetmore, her mother, Edna M. (O’Donnell) Wetmore, her brother, Terrance Wetmore and her sister, Carolyn Rogers.
She is survived by her brothers, Thomas, Ralph and Joseph; her sister, Kathleen Noll; for daughters and their spouses, Audrey and James Samek, Cynthia Gerard, Stephanie and David Romankow and Jennifer and Bruno Gomes; her grandchildren, Jerome Samek, Jaclyn Romankow, Scott Romankow, Brianna Gomes and Elijah Gomes; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Lorraine was an amazing wife, loving sister, a wonderful mother, an awesome grandmother and terrific friend. She was loved and will be greatly missed by many.
