Lorraine M. Springer

October 4, 1923 — February 10, 2021

Lorraine M. Springer, 97, and 42-year resident of Fargo, ND, died Wednesday, February 10th in Overland Park, KS.

Lorraine M. Nelson was born to Minnie (Anderson) and Magnus Nelson October 4, 1923 in Ellsworth Township, Meeker County, Minnesota.  The family moved to Litchfield, MN when she was four years old where she received her education, graduating in 1941.  She moved to Minneapolis and attended Minneapolis Business College.  She was employed at Minneapolis Honeywell until December 1943, when she enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard known as the Coast Guard SPARS.  She served at several stations on both coasts, and was discharged in New York in May 1946.

She returned to Minneapolis and was married to her high school classmate, Jack J. Springer on August 17, 1946.  Jack was employed by the Great Northern Railroad (now BNSF).  During this time, they lived in Minneapolis, Everett and Seattle, Washington, Overland Park, Kansas and Fargo, North Dakota where they retired in 1981.

Lorraine enjoyed reading, golfing, spending time with friends and traveling.  She especially treasured time spent with her family.  She was preceded in death by Jack in 2002, her parents, son Joe in 2013, two sisters, Helen Osdoba, and Irene Nelson both from Litchfield, MN.

Lorraine is survived by her son Jeffrey (Jana), Overland Park, KS, two grandchildren; Jason, Overland Park, KS, and Jennifer Newby, Shawnee, KS, and 2 great grandchildren; Lainey and Kinsley.

Burial will be at Lake Ripley Cemetery, Litchfield, MN.
