Louis P. Schmiedeler

January 8, 1931 — June 15, 2011

Louis P. Schmiedeler, 80, a lifelong resident of Mission, Kansas, passed away June 15, 2011.

Louis was born January 8, 1931, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Frank and Goldie (Vitt) Schmiedeler. He was a Korean War Veteran serving as Sergeant in 6th Armor Division of the US Army.

Louis was a passionate historian, accomplished gardener, and avid fisherman. He will be missed by anyone lucky enough to have met him.

Louis was united in marriage on November 27, 1956, to his wife of more than 50 years, Shirley, who preceded him in death. Also preceding him death are his daughters, Luane Johnson and Theresa Schmiedeler.

Louis is survived by his sons Mark Schmiedeler and David Schmiedeler and his wife Sue. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Alex Johnson and Emily Laughlin.

Visitation and Funeral Service

A visitation will be held at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee Saturday, June 18, 2011, beginning at 9 am. A graveside service will follow at 10 am in Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, Kansas.
