Lucille M. Garrett of Shawnee, KS, age 98, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2016, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center. She was born January 14th, 1918, on the family farm in Shawnee to Rose and John Klein and was the third of ten children.

Lucille married Clifford H. Garrett in 1939. They were happily married until his unexpected death in 1961. From this union, they welcomed their only child, Robert "Bob" Garrett.

After Clifford's death, Lucille rode the bus downtown to her job at The Jones Store, and when Bob opened his insurance agency in Shawnee, she spent many years as his receptionist. She was relieved that she didn't have to take the bus any more, as the office was a short mile away.

Lucille was predeceased by her parents, her beloved husband, brothers Leonard and Kenneth, and sisters Kathrine and Mary Rose.

She is survived by son Bob (Diane), grandchildren Tina, Erica and Chris, and great-grandson Parker. She also leaves siblings Helen Dobbelaere, Bernard Klein, Harold Klein (Bernice), Raymond Klein (Nancy), James Klein (Connie) and sister-in-law Helen Klein, as well as many dearly-loved nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the 5th floor medical staff (rooms 579/502) at Shawnee Mission Medical Center, while Lucille was in their care.

Services

Lucille was a life-long member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, 11311 Johnson Dr., Shawnee, KS, where the visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 22nd, 2016. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 a.m. with burial immediately after at Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, KS.
