Lucille Josephine Nachbar went to her eternal reward on August 9th, 2014.
Lucille was born on May 11th, 1924, in Kansas City, Missouri and lived her entire life in Merriam, Shawnee, and Lenexa, Kansas. She married the love of her life, Fred Nachbar, on May 4th, 1949 and together they raised three children, Cindy, Fred, and Sherri. Lucille and Fred owned and operated two "Fred's Drive In" restaurants in Shawnee during the 1960s that served as popular gathering places for young people. Lucille was a wonderful cook. Her Sunday lasagna and spaghetti dinners were anticipated throughout the week, and on holidays her home was always packed with happy relatives. Lucille was a beloved "Nan" to her seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She loved to spend time with the kids and visit from Nan or a trip to her house was always a special event. She was always there with a hug and a kind word when it was needed most. Lucille took great joy in the lives and accomplishments of those in her family and was a supportive and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, Jasper and Rose DeMaria, her brother, J.J., her sister Ann, her husband, Fred, and her daughter, Cindy. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-.law, Fred and Mary Nachbar, of Lenexa, her daughter and son-in-law, Sheri and Phil Lawson, of Tuscumbia, Missouri, seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 11311 Johnson Dr,, Shawnee, KS; with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105
