Lucy Irene Marler

July 31, 1927 — June 11, 2014

Lucy Irene Marler, 86, of Shawnee, passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at Lakeview Village.

Lucy was born July 31, 1927 to the late Addison and Erma Starms in Belleville, Illinois. She worked as the head chef for Mario's on the Plaza for many years before flooding forced them to close. Lucy loved to spend her evenings dancing to country western music. She could dance all night and still make it to work at 5 a.m. Lucy loved to laugh and make those around her laugh as well. She had a heart of gold; Lucy was always willing to lend a helping hand even if it meant giving you the shirt off her back. Lucy always had a twinkle and light in her eyes that never went out.

Lucy is preceded in death by a son, Butch Marler; three grandchildren, Blaine Wood, Brent Wood, and Jennifer Curbow.

Lucy is survived by her loving daughters, Karen Schweiger and husband Kent; Sheila Paida; Erma Wood; three sons, Clinton Marler and wife Missy; Kevin Marler and wife Kim; David Marler; two sisters, Betty Lou Darvy; Katherine Crow; three grandsons, Little Clinton Marler; John Leach; Byron Marler; four granddaughters, Shane Marler; Tuesday Renee Schweiger; Monica Schweiger; Shannan Sunday. Five great granddaughters, Athena Sunday, Brittany Wood, Katie Wood, Ashley Wood, Hannah Baez-Schweiger; eight great grandsons, J.D. Wood, Dallas Wood, Colter Curbow, Stevie Curbow, Darrell Chaney, Christian DeGraeve, Devin Bardwell and Bryar Leach.
