Luetta V. Ehmcke

January 12, 1928 — February 3, 2009

Luetta V. Ehmcke (Roberts) age 81, went to be with her Heavenly Father on February 3, 2009 at Delmar Gardens of Overland Park, Kansas.

Luetta was born on January 12, 1928, to John and Ella Voss in Hoskins, Nebraska. She graduated in 1946 from Valley High School. Luetta married Norman D. Ehmcke on January 18, 1947, and they have lived in Overland Park, Kansas for over 40 years.

She was preceded in death by Ella and Johnny Roberts and a brother Leonard Voss. She leaves her husband of 62 years, one brother Kenneth (Darlene) Voss of Elkhorn, Nebraska, a sister-in-law JoAnn Voss of Omaha, Nebraska, and many nieces and nephews. She leaves three daughters: Sherry (Dale) robbers of Lee's Summit, Missouri; Cheryl (Bob) Skinner of Kansas City, Missouri; and Cindy Kelly of Olathe, Kansas; five grandchildren: Carrie (Cory) Weeda of Lee's Summit, Missouri; Michelle (Tim) Urbina of San Antonio, Texas; Laurie (Michael) Jenkins of Grain Valley, Missouri; and Bryan and Melissa Kelly of Olathe, Kansas; and six great-grandchildren: Brianne and Katelyn Weeda, Mallory and Trenton Urbina and Logan and Lilly Jenkins.

Luetta retired from Montgomery Ward in 1994 with 26 years of service. She loved spending time with her family, making crafts, and quilts, cooking, and going to the Lenexa Senior Center for fellowship. Luetta suffered 3 years with MRSA but maintained a great spirit and willingness to live. She fought liver cancer since August 2008. We are grateful for the months that we were able to spend with her and the staff who made her life easier.

Donations in her name may be made to the Cancer Society or Kansas City Hospice.

Visitation and Funeral Service

Visitation will be held 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., Friday, February 6, 2009 at Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. A service will follow at 7 p.m. An additional visitation will be 1:30 to 3:00 p.m., Saturday, February 7, 2009 at Reichmuth Funeral Home, 222 S. Mayne Street, Valley, Nebraska. Burial will follow at the Pleasant View Cemetery in Leshara, Nebraska 68064.
