Lynann Jean Fraker

Lynann Jean Fraker, 77, passed away July 4, 2024 peacefully in her sleep at home in Shawnee, Kansas. She was born to Charles and LaVerne Davidson on February 26, 1947 in Great Bend, Kansas. After growing up in Claflin, Kansas she attended and graduated from Fort Hays State College with a BS in education, specializing in Special Education. After teaching two and half years in Topeka she completed a Master’s in education of the emotionally disturbed with a minor in learning disabilities at the University of Kansas. She then taught at Rosedale High School which later became a middle school. She met Georgia {Sprague Klein} who later introduced her to Dan Fraker. She was united in marriage to Daniel R. Fraker on January 12, 1974 at Bristol Hill United Methodist Church. They celebrated their 50th anniversary in January 2024.

 Dan and Lynn made their home in Shawnee, Kansas and lived there the rest of her life. Lynn would continue teaching for over 25 years at Rainbow Mental Health Facility in Kansas City, Kansas, USD 500. She would later work part time for the Shawnee Mission School District as a homebound instructor/substitute teacher. In 1995, Lynn was initiated in Delta Kappa Gamma teaching sorority. She was nominated and received Keys for Networking Best Teacher award in 2001. She would continue to be involved in many committees and served as Chapter President (2004 to 2006). Besides being a dedicated teacher for over 43 years, Lynn was also proudly a devoted member of the Shawnee United Methodist Church. She was an active member of the Methodist Women’s group. During that time she an active member in the prayer shawl group as well as working in the church office. 

 Lynn is survived by her husband of 50 years, Dan Fraker; sons Rod Fraker and wife Megan of Kansas City, Missouri and Brett Fraker of Lenexa, Kansas; 3 grandchildren Joshua, Lucas, and Alaina Fraker; a brother Col. Dale Davidson of Derby, Kansas; as well as 6 nephews and 1 niece. She is preceded in death by a sister, Sue Ellen Woydziak.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, Friday, July 12, 2024 at the Amos Family Funeral Home, 10901 Johnson Dr. Shawnee, Kansas 66203. A memorial service will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at Shawnee United Methodist Church 10700 Johnson Dr., Shawnee, Kansas 66203. A graveside service will follow at Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens, 23215 W 75th St, Shawnee, KS 66227.
