Mabel Rose Dobbels Fry, 89, of Lenexa, Kansas, passed away June 16, 2011.

Mabel was born in Lenexa, Kansas, the second child of Oliver and Rosa Boehm. In 1940, she married Aloysius J. Dobbels, a popular co-owner of Dobbels Hardware, Shawnee, Kansas. This union produced seven children. Mr. Dobbels preceded her in death in 1962. In 1976, she married Wesley H. Fry. Mr. Fry preceded her in death in 2009.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Shawnee, Kansas, for many years where she was a member of the Ladies Guild. She also served as Secretary-Treasurer of the St. Joseph Bowling League. She was a member of America Coachmen organization where she served as Secretary and Sunshine Lady. She was a past co-president of the Three Trail Good Sams and Club. She was also a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary, Post 869. Mabel was also a Paul Harris Fellow with the Rotary Club and a member of the Lenexa Volunteer Hall of Fame.

Mabel is survived by one son, Lawrence "Butch" (Judy) Dobbels, Mission, Kansas; six daughters, Rose Marie Huff, Lenexa, Kansas, Loretta Randall, Olathe, Kansas, Mary Sue Fry, Lenexa, Kansas, Joanne (Warren) Gerfen, Shawnee, Kansas, Jane Claar, Lenexa, Kansas and Christine (Mike) Sharp, Shawnee, Kansas’ and by one step-son Kenneth Fry, Merriam, Kansas; 19 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; one great great grandson; one sister, Betty (Gene) Cox, Richmond, Kansas; two brothers, Larry (Frances) Boehm, Shawnee, Kansas and Ralph (Ina) Boehm, Olathe, Kansas. She was preceded in death one sister, Ethel Balke and by two brothers, Clarence Boehm and Donald Boehm.

The family wishes to thank all the caregivers with Villa St. Francis and Catholic Charities.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Villa St. Francis Auxiliary, Olathe, Kansas, Holy Trinity Catholic Elementary School, Lenexa, Kansas or Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas.

Visitation and Funeral Service

Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Sunday, June 19, 2011, at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee where a Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday June 20, 2011, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Lenexa. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, Kansas.
