Maddison Paige "Maddy" Waters, of Shawnee, Kansas, passed away peacefully on February 8th, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. Born on November 24, 1993 in Merriam, Kansas, Maddy was a beacon of light and compassion in the lives of everyone she touched.

Maddy's life was an inspiring testament to love, resilience, and dedication. As a Pediatric Nurse at KU Medical Center, she poured her heart and soul into caring for her young patients, leaving an indelible mark with her selfless and nurturing spirit. Her colleagues and patients alike were drawn to her genuine warmth and unwavering commitment to making a difference.

Beyond her professional life, Maddy embraced every moment with passion and joy. She had a zest for travel, exploring new places with her adventurous spirit and cherishing the beauty of the world around her. Maddy also believed deeply in the power of self-care, nurturing her own heart so she could better care for others. Her family was the center of her world, and shopping adventures often turned into cherished family outings filled with laughter and love.

Maddy's family was her greatest treasure. She is survived by her devoted husband, John "Joche" Waters, her precious children, John "Jack," Charlotte, and Oliver, each of whom inherited her contagious laugh and her sometimes ornery disposition. Her nurturing spirit lives on through them. She is also lovingly remembered by her mother Robin Vaughn, father Blayne Vaughn, brother Garrison Wood, and sisters Melissa Vaughn and Melissa Seiler(Kyle). Her mother-in-law Shari Hoover, and brothers-in-law Jacob, Dakota, Tucker, and numerous loving grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Maddy's life was further enriched by her beloved animals, who were a constant source of joy and companionship. They will all forever cherish her memory.

Maddy was preceded in death by her fathers, Christopher Wood and John Waters, her brother Brad Vaughn, and many other loving family members who have undoubtedly welcomed her with open arms.

Her playful nature and orneriness brought smiles and laughter to all gatherings, while her love for animals showed her deep compassion and empathy. Maddy's legacy is one of selflessness, care, and boundless love—a guiding light that will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew her.Maddy’s time with us was far too brief, yet she made an everlasting impact that will continue to inspire. Her unwavering compassion, kindness, zest for life, reminds us to live fully and love deeply. In her final act of generosity, Maddy was an organ donor, further illustrating her enduring spirit and dedication to helping others. In this time of sorrow, we celebrate the incredible life Maddy led and the indelible mark she left on our hearts. She will be deeply missed and eternally loved.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Church of the Resurrection Leawood, located at 13720 Roe Ave, Leawood, KS 66224, on Friday, the 28th of February 2025, at 11:00 AM. There will be a time to speak with the family following the service. Family, friends, and those whose lives were touched by Maddy are invited to honor her memory and celebrate the remarkable life she lived.
