Marchel V. Brulez, 92, lifelong resident of Shawnee, passed away Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Hillside Village of Desoto.
Marchel was born, October 18, 1924 to the late Arthur J. and Hermenia Brulez in Shawnee, KS. He graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1942 and was drafted in the U.S. Air Force in 1943. After returning from the service, Marchel married Anna Jane Van de Berghe in 1946. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Marchel was a life long entrepreneur, a successful truck farmer, developer, also starting M.V. Brulez Foundation in 1959 and G.B. Trenching in 1977 before retiring at the young age of 82. Marchel loved hard work, enjoyed gardening and playing in the dirt. He enjoyed traveling and was able to visit every continent except Antarctica. Marchel also enjoyed boating and spending time with family and friends at the Lake of the Ozarks.
Marchel is preceded in death by a daughter, Terri Jane Wonder and his wife of 67 years Anna Jane. He is survived by his sons, John Brulez and wife Pam; Gary Brulez and wife Pam; 7 Grandchildren, Kelly, Kristin, Brenan, Johnny, Brian, Morgan, Charlie and 7 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 pm Tuesday, April 11th at Amos Family Funeral Home in Shawnee. A rosary will be prayed at 5 pm. Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 12th at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 11311 Johnson Dr., Shawnee, KS 66203.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 6950 Squibb Rd # 310, Mission, KS 66202.
