Margaret McManus Patrick, 90, passed away Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Sunrise of Lenexa. Where she received exceptional care at the end of her life's journey. The family is grateful for the loving care they provided. Margaret was born May 26, 1927 in Kansas City, Missouri to James Joseph and Anne Burke McManus. She attended St. Francis Xavier Elementary and Bishop Hogan High School. She then went to the University of Missouri where she met the love of her life, Leslie Robert (Bob) Patrick. After completing her degree, Margaret taught at Knotts Elementary for one year and then married Bob and began their married life. Bob and Margaret settled down to raise a family and were blessed with six children: John (Julanne Shikles) Lenexa, Brian (Jo Haney) Olathe, Mary (Paul Garrett) Lenexa, Anne (Russ Farrell) Gallup, NM, Joe (Karla Pence) Lawrence and Jane (Steve Bradt) Lawrence. She also leaves seventeen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Before she was married, Margaret was a very proud member of the Heart of America Riding Club.  Margaret was widowed thirty-six years ago and accepted her fate, adapting to her new normal by plunging into her many interests: reading, playing bridge, Kansas State Extension Homemakers, Bible Study and many community and parish functions. She worked until she was eighty years old for American Greetings. Margaret was a devout Catholic and daily communicant as a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Shawnee, Kansas. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bob, and brother, James J. McManus Jr. she is survived by her extended family and friends.

A Visitation will be 5:00 ~ 7:00 PM, Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017 at Amos Family Funeral Home 10901 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, Kansas 66203, where a rosary recitation will be at 5:00 PM.  Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM, Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
