Maria A. Brown

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Maria A Brown, 94. She passed away peacefully at home on Monday, June 3, 2024 with family. Born in Germany on November 13, 1929, Maria met her husband, Robert L. Brown who was serving in the US Military. They married July 4, 1954 and then sailed to the US on the S.S. United States to begin their new life. Together they built a beautiful home, raised two daughters, and traveled extensively.  Maria had a long and successful career as a seamstress. She always cherished spending time with her family, gardening, sewing, working hard, and visiting with friends and family.

Maria is preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Brown, her parents, and her siblings. She is survived by her two daughters, Karin Houck (Rick) and Linda Hunsley (Joe), granddaughter Karinda Houck, great granddaughter Audriana, and niece Jillane Hogard (Tom), all in the Kansas City area. Her niece, Urike Doerr (and  family) reside in Walldürn, Germany.

The family is very grateful for the wonderful care and support from the Crossroads Hospice family over the last two years.

Visitation will be on Friday, June 14, 2024 at 10 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. at the Amos Family Funeral Home, 10901 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, Kansas. Burial will be in the Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Lenexa, KS.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Crossroads Hospice of Lenexa, KS.
