Marianne D. Sullivan, 69, of Shawnee, Kansas, passed away March 21, 2013, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.
Marianne was born April 26, 1943, in Sacramento, California, to Vincent and Dorothy Wagner. She spent most of her youth in the Chicago area. She received her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Alverno College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and married Bernard J. Sullivan in 1966 in Palatine, Illinois. They moved to Shawnee, Kansas, in 1980.
Marianne was a volunteer tutor for Johnson County Adult Education (formerly Project Finish) for 21 years. She was also involved in St. Joseph Church of Shawnee’s Respect Life Committee and was an adorer in the parish Perpetual Adoration Chapel for over 25 years.
Marianne is survived by her husband of 46 years Bernard Sullivan; three children Liz (John) Hansen, Bernie (Marla) Sullivan, and Amy (Mike) King; brother Vince Wagner; and six grandchildren - Valerie, Amanda, Jake, Josh, Sean and Matthew.
Marianne was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend and will be missed by many.
Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Sunday, March 24, 2013, at the Amos Family Funeral Home and Crematory, with a Rosary recited at 5:00 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 25, 2013, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Shawnee, Kansas. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, Kansas.
