Marilyn Ann Cooney

Marilyn Ann Cooney, 78, Mission, Kansas, passed away Monday, September 17, 2012, at the Sweet Life at Rosehill, Shawnee, Kansas.

Marilyn was born January 12, 1934, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Thomas and Genevieve (Crawford) Yunker. She was a graduate of Lillis High School.

In 1972, Marilyn started working in the insurance billing department at the University of Kansas Medical Center until she retired. She was a member of the St. Pius X Catholic Church since 1959.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, John Joseph Cooney in 1966. Survivors include her five sons and their spouses, Mike (Lindi) Cooney, Fairway, Kansas, Steve (Carol) Cooney, Glenaire, Missouri, Tom (Sue) Cooney, Edwardsville, Kansas, Patrick (Kat) Cooney, Harrisonville, Missouri and Jim (Laura) Cooney, Overland Park, Kansas; sister, Rosemary VanLerberg, Shawnee, Kansas; and eight grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 9:00-10:00 a.m., Saturday, September, 22, 2012, at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m; burial in Resurrection Cemetery.
