Marilyn J Haubein

October 5, 1934 — April 22, 2023

Marilyn J. Haubein, 88, of Shawnee, KS passed away on April 22nd, 2023.  She was born in Brighton, Iowa on October 5th, 1934 to Willis and Jeanette Horton.  Marilyn attended Cottey College in Nevada, MO where she met the love of her life, Ted Haubein.

Marilyn loved history but above all loved politics.  She was a staunch Republican and didn’t care who knew it!  She loved her family and friends and would do anything for anyone.  She loved to smoke and drink, maybe a little too much!  After a drink or two, Marilyn could solve almost any political problem, all you had to do was ask.  Her family meant the most to her and she loved them dearly. She loved her grandkids very much and would always ask about them.

She was not afraid to share her opinion about anything.  Marilyn loved watching PBS along with the cooking channel and of course The Antiques Roadshow.  She loved antiques of all kinds; our mother and father collected and refreshed many pieces over the years.  Marilyn enjoyed surrounding herself with things that had meanings and memories.  She was an amazing chef in her own right.  She truly found enjoyment in food and having her friends and family gathered around the table.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ted Haubein, son, Mark Haubein and a daughter-in-law, Sharon Haubein.  She is survived by her sons, Kent Haubein and Ted (Christine) Haubein; a daughter-in-law, Cheryl Haubein; sister, Donna Wikstrom and their families; grandchildren. Jonathan Haubein, Sarah (Lance) Eighme, Kyle (Elizabeth) Haubein, Kelly (Tim) Green, Aiden Haubein and Jason (Jamie) Neff along with ten great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will take place at Amos Family Funeral Home on Saturday, May 13th at 2:30 pm.  A luncheon will follow the memorial service.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Trinity Lutheran Church, 2101 10th Avenue, Leavenworth, Kansas 66048 or Children’s Mercy Hospital. 2401 Gillham Road, Kansas City, MO 64108.
