Marilyn Mitchell

Marilyn (Mossman) Mitchell was born May 3, 1944, in Cleveland, Missouri and peacefully passed away on September 13, 2009, at the Kansas City Hospice House surrounded by family.

Marilyn spent most of her life in Shawnee, Kansas. Marilyn was a loving wife for 47 years, a dedicated mother, a softball coach, Halloween costume maker, incredible knitter and an avid fan of racing, the Royals and the Chiefs.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, M. Leon Mitchell; two children, Michele (Mitchell) Omundson and 1SG Kevin Mitchell; son-in-law, CSM Eric Omundson; "favorite" granddaughter Mallory; grandsons, Kevin and Zachary Omundson; mother, Helen Mossman; and brothers, Dan and Tom Mossman. She was preceded in death by her father, Omer Mossman.

Visitation and Graveside Service

Please join friends and family in celebrating Marilyn's life on Thursday, September 17, 2009 from 6-8:00 p.m., at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. A Graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 18, 2009 at Hubbel Hill Cemetery in Tonganoxie, Kansas.
