Marilyn Sue (Smith) Stowers, 78, of Lenexa, Kansas, passed away on December 11, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.

Marilyn was born on October 15, 1944 in Kansas City, Missouri; she was the youngest daughter of Chester and Grace Smith.  After Marilyn graduated from Turner High School in 1962, she earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Emporia State University where she was a member of the national Tri Sigma sorority.

After graduation, Marilyn taught Business Education classes at Wyndotte High School.   She married Gary Raffety in Kansas City, KS and had two daughters who were her greatest joy.   Marilyn had a successful career in Mortgage Banking where she met her husband, David Stowers, and they were happily married for 23 years.

She will be remembered by those who knew her as a loving and selfless daughter, sister, wife, mother, nana, aunt and friend.  Marilyn is survived by her husband, David Stowers; daughter Heather Denning and son-in-law Dave; daughter Erin Varner and son-in-law Shawn; granddaughters Graysen and Emersen Denning, Alexa, Olivia, and Gianna Varner.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00pm, Thursday, December 15, 2022 at Amos Family Funeral Home.  Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am Friday, December 16, 2022 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Shawnee, KS; burial at Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, KS.

Flowers may be sent to the Amos Family Funeral Home or memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in Marilyn’s honor.
