Marilyn “Marti” Kay Young

July 15, 1957 — November 27, 2017

Marti Young, 60, passed away peacefully into the care of the Lord on 12/22/17. She was a devout Christian woman. She lived up to her belief “to know Christ and to make Him known.” We know she saved many souls, sometimes consciously and sometimes accidentally just by being in their presence… Marti was born in Chanute, KS to Larry and Judy (Leslie) Young. She graduated from Turner High, and worked for SW Bell for 15 years, and later Bayer Corp, in the admin offices. Marti loved and enjoyed her family. Her grandchildren were her absolute pride and joy. She was an excellent seamstress, having created and gifted hundreds of hand-embroidered baby blankets to new mothers. She was lively and fun. It was impossible to be in her presence without being amazed by her beautiful spirit and kind smile. She had a way of making everyone feel included, loved, and important. Marti was engaged to Jeff Payne, and the two dearly loved one another. She was a kind and generous soul, putting everyone else’s needs before hers. Marti deeply loved her church, Nall Nazarene, and it’s congregation. Her unfailing devotion and faith was seen by all. She found great joy in sharing her peace in Christ with others. Marti was preceded in death by her brother, Joe. She is survived by her parents, Larry and Judy, daughter Ashley, son-in-law Adam, grandchildren Brynn and Thatcher, and beloved fiance Jeff Payne. You will be missed, our sister in Jesus Christ, until we meet again at heavens gate…

You are invited to attend services at Nall Avenue Church of the Nazarene, 6301 Nall Ave, in Prairie Village. Visitation will be held Friday, 6-8pm. Funeral service will be Saturday at 2pm. If you wish, please wear pink (her favorite color) to the funeral service. She would have loved that.

Memorial contributions may be made to Advice and Aid Pregnancy Center, where Marti volunteered her time for many years.
