Marion P. “Shorty” Morris

Marion P. “Shorty” Morris, 90, passed away on December 30th, 2017.  He was born on November 24th, 1927 in Kenoma, MO to Phillip and Georgie Morris.  Better known as “Shorty”, he went to high school in Lamar. MO.  He entered the US Army in November of 1945 and served for two years.  Shortly after leaving the US Army, he married Mary Garton on December 29th, 1947.  Shorty originally went to work at Bendix and then eventually retired from General Motors after working for them for thirty years.  Shorty enjoyed spending time with his family as long as they were hunting and fishing.  He was heavily involved in his children’s sports activities while they were growing up.  He is survived by his wife, Mary E. Morris; daughter, Kay Warrem; son, Phil (Lynette) Morris; daughter Ann McCain; daughter, Sandy (Jim) Brashears; son, Dave (LaDawna) Morris; son, Rob (Jackie) Morris; ten grandchildren along with fifteen great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Maxine, Opal and Marie.  The family would like to send a big thank you to the staff at Garden Terrace of Overland Park for their sincere care of Shorty.

A visitation will be held from 6:00-6:30 PM on Friday, January 5th at The Amos Family Funeral Home, 10901 Johnson Dr., Shawnee, KS, 66203.  A memorial service will immediately follow at 6:30 PM.
