Marjorie Boyle Heter

November 29, 1914 — April 22, 2010

Marjorie Boyle Heter, 95, went to be with the Lord April 22, 2010, at Menorah Medical Center.

Marjorie was born in Boyle, Kansas, November 29, 1914, a small town named for her pioneering grandparents John and Mary Boyle. She was the first of four girls born to Charles and Grace Boyle. Marjorie treasured her sisters all her life.

After graduation from Winchester High School, Marjorie attended Kansas University where she met her husband of 64 years, Marvin Wood Heter. They lived in Kansas City, Missouri and Davenport, Iowa before moving to their "last stop" in Mission, Kansas.

Marjorie loved her family and we will miss her warm smiles, warm words, warm letters, and those delicious meals she prepared even though she was never quite sure there was enough. She was a hard working woman often claiming she was made of "wang" leather. She was blessed with a healthy body and gave her last enemy, pneumonia, such a battle that "wang" leather seems a fitting epithet.

Marjorie loved her gardens and her flowers. She often said she was happiest in her garden and she moved the flowers in her large yard until they were "happy" too. She planted them with a gardener’s heart, arranged them with an artist’s eye and gave hundreds of them away with a poet’s spirit.

Marjorie was intense about the issues that concerned her. She read her large volume of mail each day and financially supported missionaries and causes throughout her life. She was also deeply in love with her Savior Jesus Christ and read her Bible fervently often reading through the night when sleep eluded her.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin, two sisters and one grandson Ravi. She is survived by one sister, Marian Wallace of Winchester, Kansas; her six children, Tom (Jean )of Garland, Kansas, David (Marie) of Lee's Summit, Missouri, John of Lindsborg, Kansas, Charles (Vicki) of Roeland Park, Kansas, Gracie Luce of Mission, Kansas, and Steve of Alta Vista, Kansas; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
