Mark Christopher Copeland

Mark Christopher Copeland, 42, of Shawnee,Kansas, passed away February 9, 2012.

Mark was born September 16, 1969, in Kansas City, Missouri to William and Victoria (Lucas) Copeland. He graduated from St. Joseph Aquinas High School in 1988. Mark received a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice from Grantham University. He worked as a Master Deputy Sheriff for the Johnson County Sheriff's office. Mark was a member of the Kansas Army National Guard 35th MP Company. Mark was united in marriage to Melinda Johnson-Copeland on May 2, 1998.

Mark was preceded in death by his father William Edgar Copeland III on July 3, 2001, by his grandparents Robert and Virginia Lucas and William and Marie Copeland, and by his Aunt Kay Copeland Odem. He is survived by his wife Melinda Copeland and his children, Meah Ivy Tongxue Copeland, William "Acel" Copeland, Isabel Caroline Luisa Copeland, and Julien Andrew Copeland. He is also survived by his mother Victoria Copeland, by his brothers Michael Copeland and Matthew Copeland (Kara), by a sister Marsha Thorpe (Richard) and aunts and uncles.

A visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, February 13, 2012, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Shawnee where the Rosary recited at 6 pm. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 14, 2012, at the church with burial following in Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, Kansas.
