Marlene Van Nieuwenhuyse

Marlene Van Nieuwenhuyse, 94, of Merriam, KS, passed away, Sunday, February 15, 2015.

Marlene was born in Glasgow, MO to Alvin and Minnie Flaspohler Hagedorn and moved to this area when she was 7 years old. She married Joseph Van Nieuwenhuyse on April 19, 1947 in Shawnee. He preceded her in death on March 31, 2004. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Henry Hagedorn. She is survived by a son, Mike (Pat) Van Nieuwenhuyse, of Bloomington, MN; a daughter Ruth Ann (Artie) Vielhauer, of Merriam, KS; four sisters, Virginia Klenk, Ruth (Dave) Setter, Lucille (Kenny) Cox, and Judy (Ron) Miller; three grandchildren, Jeff (Susanne) Vielhauer, Karen (Will) Nealey, and Missy (John) Donovan and six great grandchildren, Madeline, Callen, Alyssa, Gus, Brooklyn, and Kylie.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 am, Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Kansas City, KS with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 - 7 pm, Wednesday at the Amos Family Funeral Home where the Rosary will be prayed at 5 pm.

The family suggests contributions to Sacred Heart Church.
