Marlene J. Vollink

d. January 5, 2016

Marlene J. Vollink, 80, most beloved and treasured wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away and entered into eternal rest with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on January 5th, 2016. She was preceded in passing by her late husband David P. Vollink, who died September 1, 1997.

Marlene was born and raised in Allen, Nebraska. She graduated with a degree in music education from Wayne State Teachers College in 1956. She taught music education in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Ida Grove, Iowa before getting married and then investing her full time, talent, and heart into raising her family of 3 children - sons Joe, and Scott, and daughter Terri. After her children were raised, she returned to music education in the Lisbon, North Dakota elementary school system, teaching there from the mid 1980's to 1995, when she then retired, and moved to the Kansas City area.

Marlene had a great love of life and people that made her a special and close friend to so very many throughout the years, and she was a wonderful blessing to all who knew her. She was active in church and volunteer groups using her musical talent that God had gifted her with, and she truly fulfilled the scripture instructions to "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, strength, and mind, and love your neighbor as you love yourself". She surely heard from her Lord "Well done, good and faithful servant" upon entering into his kingdom.

Marlene is survived by her loving family including sons Joe (Anne) Vollink, of Sugar Land, TX; Scott (Lori) Vollink of Overland Park, KS; daughter Terri (Adam) Reisenauer of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren Matt and Megan Vollink of Overland Park, KS; Sammie, Nick, Jesse, Erika, and Jake Reisenauer of Phoenix AZ; step-grandchildren Michael and Amanda Bell of Houston, TX; and sister Jeanie (Del) Fuelberth of Norfolk, NE.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Friday at Atonement Lutheran Church with interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, KS. Visitation will be 6 - 8 p.m., Thursday at the Amos Family Funeral Home.

The family suggests contributions to the Atonement Lutheran Church music ministry.
