Marlowe Wertjes

Marlowe Dean Wertjes, 61, of Shawnee, passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2012, at St. Joseph Medical Center.

Marlowe was born September 9, 1951, to the late Marvin and Amanda Wertjes in Cedar Falls, Iowa. He graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1969. Marlowe married his high school sweetheart on September 5, 1970.

Marlowe was an avid golfer and loved spending time at Sunflower Hills Golf Course, his home away from home.

Marlowe is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Vivian; son, Matthew Wertjes and wife Jennifer; daughter Stephanie Naylor and husband Johnny; two granddaughters, Samantha Guido, Madalynn Wertjes; two grandsons, Landon and Jett Wertjes; two sisters, Marlys Bolin and Margena Voigt; and the new love of his life, his puppy, Dixie. Marlowe is preceded in death by a brother, Marvin.

A Celebration of Marlowe's life will be 11 a.m., Saturday, December 22, 2012, at the Amos Family Funeral Home and Crematory.
