Marshall D. Hendrickson

April 19, 1935 — January 21, 2016

After a long battle with Alzheimer's, Marshall D. Hendrickson (80), of Olathe, KS, went to be with Jesus on January 21, 2016 surrounded by his family and the loving staff of Aberdeen Village.

Marshall was born in Poplar Bluff, Mo on April 19, 1935. He was the only child of Clyde and Bula Hendrickson. Even though as a young child Marshall lived in various towns in Missouri and Arkansas, he considered Winfield, KS his home town.

Marshall married Ann Hoelscher at Grace United Methodist Church on August 10, 1958. Marshall and Ann lived in Mulvane, KS where Marshall worked for Boeing in Wichita. In 1962, Marshall and Ann moved to the Kansas City area where Marshall accepted a job with United Missouri Bank. He set up the programming department and was one of first computer programmers in the country. He continued to work for UMB for the next 35 years and retired in 1997 as Senior Vice-President.

Marshall was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and uncle. He loved to spend time with his family, enjoyed gardening, creating stained glass and fishing. He was a dedicated fan of any sport in which his grandchildren competed and always KU basketball. Marshall's life was one of faithfulness, generosity and service to others. He was mission-minded. Giving to others gave him great joy. He was a lay leader in the United Methodist Church and served on the missions committee in the churches he attended. He also worked with various mission organizations.

Marshall was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Bula Hendrickson. Survived by his wife of 57 years, Ann Hendrickson, Olathe, KS; son, Riley Hendrickson and his wife Patrice, Tulsa, OK; daughter, Melinda Holmes and her husband Phil, Olathe, KS; grandson Michael Holmes and his wife Jourdan, Kansas City, MO; granddaughters, Monica Johnson and husband Jacob, Olathe, KS; Julia Hendrickson, Weatherford, OK; Lauren Hendrickson, Starkville, MS; one great-granddaughter and another great-granddaughter who will be born in April.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at Aberdeen Village and Grace Hospice for the loving care and support in his final days.

On Friday, January 29th, there will be a visitation at Amos Family Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00pm. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Amos Funeral Home in Shawnee, KS on Saturday, January 30th at 10:00am.
