Martha Hunt, 98, of Roeland Park, Kansas, passed away June 29, 2012. Martha was born May 17, 1914, in New York City, New York, to Paul Pankau and Monika Dobberstein.

She was the Sales Promotion Manager for Vita Craft for 25 years and the founder of SafeHome (Johnson County's Battered Women's Shelter). Martha was a member of the Soroptimist International of Kansas City for 47 years served as the President from 1973-1974; Governor for the South Central Region. Martha served on the board of Rose Brooks Battered Women's Shelter in Kansas City Missouri. She was one of the founders of the Shepherd's Center (organization where retirees remain active helping others.) Martha received the Kansas City Spirit Award in 2010 for founding SafeHome 30 years ago.

Martha is survived by a daughter Susan M. Hunt; son Philip B. Hunt; sister Charlotte Anderson; brother Paul Pankau; and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday July 6, 2012, at the Amos Family Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will be in Volusia Memorial Park in Ormond Beach, Florida.
