Marty Regan

November 16, 1954 — August 17, 2019

Martin Wayne Regan, Jr., 64, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2019 surrounded by his wife and children. Marty was born on November 16, 1954 to Wayne and Evelyn Regan in Kansas City, KS. Marty attended St. Joseph Grade School and High School, graduating in 1973. Six months into attending Emporia State Teachers College, Marty wrote home asking his parents for money. Instead of a few dollars, his father sent him a Real Estate Application. By November of 1974, Marty had obtained his real estate license and 2 years later his broker license. Marty never looked back and spent the remainder of his life being successfully involved in the real estate industry.

Marty chaired the Professional Standards Committee along with the Ethics Committee of the Johnson County Board of Realtors.

Away from work, Marty enjoyed sports, coaching, running, owning and racing horses & hunting and fishing, especially trips deep into Northern Canada. He made wonderful memories while taking numerous family trips to Las Vegas and Florida. Marty was always up for a game of cards or a cold drink with friends.

But most importantly, Marty loved and cherished his family. Marty is survived by his courageous and compassionate wife of 42 years, Patty, his daughters Katie (Zak) Kolich and Sarah (Brett) Braun, his son George (Jessie) Regan, his 6 grandchildren, whom he absolutely adored, Hank Kolich, Ruby Kolich, Regan Kolich, Kiley Braun, Skyler Braun & Glen Braun, his mother Evelyn and his brothers & sisters - Mike Regan, Kathy (Mike) Dorman, Lisa (Joe) Bourquin, Evie Porter, Joni (Richard) Nachbar & Pat (Becki) Regan. He is preceded in death by his father, Wayne, mother-in-law, Helen Rieke, his brother-in-law, Tim Porter, his nephew Donny Goode and Kevin Hager, Sr.

Marty enjoyed life and all it had to offer. Guided by his faith, family and friends, he had a truly undeniable talent and ability to make the most out of every situation. When first diagnosed with ALS, a nurse suggested to him that he complete his bucket list…Marty simply replied, "I've done that already."

Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, August 21st at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 11:00 am. Burial will take place following mass at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.
