Marvin P. Archer, age 81, passed away on May 1, 2018 at St. Luke's Hospice House, Kansas City, MO. He was born May 2, 1936 to Margaret and Oscar "Ralph" Archer in Caldwell, Ohio. He married Leitha Dobbins on September 14, 1954 and moved his family to the Kansas City Area in 1959 where he spent most of his life.
Marvin was extremely hard worker and a kind and honest man to all. He was employed at General Motors for 21 years and part owner of Archer's Tree Service. After retiring from General Motors he started K & M Home Improvement. He loved his remodeling business and the intricate detail work that inspired his motto, "When Quality Matters." Keeping pace with Marvin was never easy. He retired his business after 23 years.
With all said, the most important thing to Marvin was his family. One of his greatest pleasures was family poker game nights; hours of enjoyment with food and laughter. He was a quiet man that enjoyed being surrounded by his noisy family. He always said "I can't even get a word in." When he did get in a word he enjoyed discussing politics and economics, passing on a legacy to "Buy American."
Marvin is survived by his wife Leitha Archer of Olathe, KS; sisters, Lucille Bates of East Union, OH, Nancy Howell (Junior) of Cambridge, OH; children, Kandy Helm (Jim) of Kansas City, KS, Gary Archer (Hope) of Granite Falls, NC, and Pam Burris (Greg) of Kansas City, KS; along with 6 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Amos Family Funeral Home on Saturday at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to St. Luke's Hospice House 3516 Summit St, Kansas City, MO 64111.
