Marvin Dale Dean

September 21, 1952 — November 7, 2024

Marvin Dale Dean, known as "Dale" to his family and friends, passed away peacefully on November 7th, 2024 with his wife and children by his side. He was born on September 21, 1952, in Walnut Grove, Arkansas, to parents Jeff and Nina. Dale was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, whose life was marked by his deep faith, devotion to his family, and unwavering commitment to service.

Dale grew up in Jonesboro, Arkansas, and graduated from Jonesboro High School in 1970. Shortly after high school, he enlisted in the Arkansas National Guard, where he served his country with pride. His service was an early indicator of the strong sense of duty that would define his life. It was also during this time that he began dating the love of his life, Alicia Smith. Their relationship blossomed, and in 1973, they married, embarking on a journey together that would span over five decades.

After earning his degree from Arkansas State University in 1975, Dale began his professional career, taking his first job in Memphis, Tennessee. In 1979, he and Alicia moved to Springfield, Missouri, where their family began to grow. Their son, Brandon, was born later that year on November 16, and their daughter, Jennifer, followed on January 7, 1985.

Dale was a devoted and loving father, guiding his children with wisdom, patience, and love. Dale’s unwavering faith in the Lord remained a central part of his life. He served as a deacon at Glenstone Baptist Church in Springfield, Missouri, where he became known for his dedication to the church and his willingness to serve others.

In 1996, Dale and Alicia moved to Lenexa, Kansas, where they continued to build their lives and remain close to their children. In 2006 Dale suffered a traumatic brain injury drastically altering his day-to-day life. Alicia dedicated the next eighteen years ensuring Dale could spend his days surrounded by family and love; "she is definitely a keeper".

Dale’s kindness, humor, and generosity left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. He was a man of great integrity, a loving husband, and a dedicated father, and his influence will be felt for generations to come.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents Jeff and Nina, brother Jimmy, sisters Betty and Linda and grandson Harrison. He is survived by his beloved wife, Alicia; his son, Brandon and wife Alicia Dean; his daughter, Jennifer and husband Matt McKechnie; grandchildren Mason, Ethan, Asher, Archer, Maxwell, Sullivan; and brother, Darrell.
